DESIGN THE CAMP T-SHIRT CONTEST
Create the design for the summer t-shirt and win a FREE sweatshirt featuring your winning design. Creation Theme: "It's All Good" Designs must include: the words Camp Wakanda, Genesis 1, Summer 2010, a front pocket image and a back of shirt image. Allen Park Presbyterian Church is blessed with a beautiful church camp. Camp Wakanda covers 160 acres in a wilderness setting near Lewiston, Michigan. El Lake is wholly contained within the camp and provides a sandy beach for swimming, and opportunities for boating and fishing. The camp has a large central dining room just a few steps from the lake. There are four dormitory-style buildings for campers to sleep in and a shower house divided for males and females.

We recently completed renovations in our lodge, allowing more camps and campers to enjoy Wakanda through all seasons. The buildings have a rustic look and are set among the pines at the edge of the lake. A health officer is in residence for all children’s camps and a doctor in Lewiston is on call should the camp need a doctor.

A water safety instructor (W.S.I.) is on the beach whenever kids are in or near the water. One of the first duties of the W.S.I. is to determine the skill level of the children and assign them to areas marked off to provide safe water activities for their skill level.

A full time cook and a staff of teenage volunteers work in the kitchen and provide kid-friendly meals for the campers.

Camp life includes: Bible study, singing, community living experiences (such as gathering wood for the campfire), swimming, organized sports, and just general fun.We have camps for all ages, families, singles, and varying interests.

Camp Wakanda is a tradition for the congregation of APPC. Many who grew up spending summers at our camp send their children from out-of-state so that they will not miss out on the experience of Camp Wakanda.

Camperships
At APPC, we make every effort to keep costs affordable for families who wish to keep their children involved in church activities.  We feel that no child should be excluded from any church event due to economic hardship. If cost is prohibitive, a special fund is used to cover the cost upon minister approval. If you would like to donate to our “Campership fund,” please make your check payable to APPC with campership in the memo area and submit to the attention of John Clark, Financial Secretary. All donations are anonymous and very much appreciated.


Family Price” for Camp
We have special pricing for larger families!  For any camps attended by an entire family (Waverunners, Shipmates, Choir Camp, etc.), the maximum fee assessed will be for four members of an immediate family.  It is the hope of the committee that this change will increase the overall number of campers enough that we will be able to make this a permanent change.
